Interpace Holdings and its subsidiary Interpace Brick, is a privately-held family run company founded in 1984 and currently based in Ogden, Utah. Interpace was formerly comprised of two factories: one in Spokane, Washington and its present day Ogden factory. According to historian William W. Terry, the Ogden plant and headquarters started in 1887, and is located on the site of the oldest continuously run brick operation in Utah. Brick has been produced in the vicinity of this plant for the greater Ogden area since 1853.

Hoffman Kiln

The 140 foot smoke stack of the Hoffman Kiln, a landmark of the Harrisville Brickyard, is taken down 18 April 1975, after the structure was weakened by an earthquake that hit Northern Utah in March 1975.

Interpace prides itself on being one of a very few remaining family-owned and independently operated brick plants in the United States. Over 80 percent of U.S. brick production is owned by large conglomerates, many of them foreign owned. Our Ogden plant produces around 24 Million Standard Brick Equivalents or SBEs per year. We consider ourselves a “boutique Brick plant” turning out product not only for Utah, but for distributors from coast to coast.

The plant is unique for its great variety of products with a wide range of colors and textures from thin brick to pavers, and our special line of artisanal-style green tumbled face brick. Our methods of production require more hand work than the majority of plants producing brick in the U.S. and thus they retain a rustic and handmade charm that is all but impossible for the larger more automated plants to achieve.

Interpace Brick has a strong history in all aspects of the brick industry from producing architectural ware to residential products. Projects produced under the Interpace brand are found in such cities as San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Vancouver and many others. Interpace has long been known as an innovator and was one of the earliest producers of thin type brick which sold under its trademark name “Slimbrick.”

Interpace owns and controls more clay resources than any other ceramic producer in the state.

From our state-of-the-art clay grinding facility, our modern packaging and drying lines, and our new plant building, the company has continued to innovate and adapt. A substantial modernization and improvement project, in nearly all aspects of our plant, was recently completed to improve the quality and diversity of brick offered by Interpace Brick.
